MissionControl
ISP management suite built in PHP, Laravel, and Docker Swarm
I was engaged by a national ISP to build MissionControl, a bespoke solution for detecting, tracking and reporting of network outages and incidents, used by customer support teams and network engineers and as the single source of truth for public-facing status updates.
As the sole developer, I was responsible not only for the software development, but also the infrastructure and the software architecture, with a major constraint being the entire system must be cloud agnostic. AWS is my cloud provider of choice, but this constraint prevented the use of such niceties as Lambda functions, ElasticBeanstalk, etc, and resulted in my recreating these services and workflows from first principles, but tuned specifically for the larger requirements of the project.
Built using PHP and modularised Laravel and with extensive use of queues and jobs in a Docker Swarm environment, I developed integrations with Zabbix, ZohoCRM and Salesforce, and responding to business needs the system was extended to become a critical component of customers’ CPE (router) and VOIP provisioning with a further integration to manage the core network RADIUS cluster.
With the success of this project, I was promoted to Head of Software Engineering and set about building my team.
